The Festival sur le Niger Foundation was created in August 2009 with the mission of capitalizing and perpetuating the achievements of the Festival sur le Niger by contributing more to the promotion of culture, the safeguarding of heritage, the promotion of the local economy of the region, the structuring of the culture sector, cultural production and the decentralization of cultural life. It is an initiative of the organizers of the Festival on Niger and several cultural and tourism actors in Ségou
