Festival sur le Niger 2016
Rich in history and open to the world, Ségou, land of culture, will open its doors with a special edition of the festival sur le Niger once again from February 3 to 7, 2016.
The 2016 edition of the Festival sur le Niger, entitled“Youth and Citizenship”will not include the giant music concerts on the river. The 2016 programming will be structured around the three (03) following major components:
The Cultural Caravan for Peace
The Symposium of Ségou
The Visual Arts Exhibitions / Crafts / Workshops & Master Class
This decision follows the state of emergency decreed in the end of December 2015 and subsequently extended until the end of March 2016 by the Government of Mali. The Management of the Festival sur le Niger, by this change, would like to support the efforts of the highest authorities for securing people and their property and the search for a lasting peace.
The Festival sur le Niger’s mission is to contribute to the development of the African creative sector and strengthening social cohesion, to provide its national and international audience a quality artistic meeting, and to support the local economy through the creation of economic opportunities.
